The organization of work on the assessment report was discussed at the meeting of the extended EMEP Bureau, (Geneva, 28 February - 1 March 2002.) The Bureau adopted the following management structure for the report:
Assessment report leader: Anton Eliassen, ( MSC-W), with a support group consisting of Sergey Dutchak, (MSC-E), Øystein Hov, (CCC), Peringe Grennfelt and Sonja Vidic (both from the EMEP Bureau) would have the overall responsibility for the report. This responsibility includes , as necessary, further elaboration of the objectives, questions to be addressed, and report structure.
An editorial committee, led by Gun Lövblad from the Swedish Environmental Research Institute (IVL) and including Sergey Dutchak (MSC-E), Leonor Tarrasón (MSC-W) and Ketil Torseth (CCC) would be responsible for the general part of the report (i.e. Part 1). In its work, the editorial committee would cooperate with other authors contributing to Part 1.
Jerzy Bartnicki from MSC-W would assist the assessment report leader and his support group and act as a coordinator of the contributions of the Parties towards Part 2 of the report. The coordinator would closely follow the development of the work of the national experts and ensure that necessary communication takes place between these experts, the EMEP centres and the assessment report leader and his support group. He would , inter alia, advise on measurement status (checked data quality) and on the availability of model calculations of concentrations and depositions as well as import and export (transboundary fluxes) of air pollutants.
