About the model calculations

The yearly, monthly, daily and hourly data up to last year are available on NetCDF3 format from the met.no THREDDS Data Server (about TDS). And the annual EMEP/MSC-W model results of air concentrations and depositions are also available as gridded data (covering the EMEP grid) on ASCII format and as national totals (both html and ASCII format) by using list-boxes above for the years 1980, 1985, 1990 and for all years from 1995 until last year.

EMEP/MSC-W model calculations are changing with time, not only because of EMEP/MSC-W model updates, but also due to modifications of the input data (e.g. revised emission data and meteorology). In broad terms, two types of model results can be distinguished:

Model results of Type 1 are labeled by the year they are calculated for (e.g. '2000', '2008', etc.), while model results of Type 2 are further labeled by the year when the re-calculation was made. E.g. '2008 v2015' refers to model results for the year 2008, which were obtained in 2015 using the best data available in 2015. Model results of Type 2 should be preferred when doing trend analyses.

Please note that the model run for 2015 in EMEP Status Report 1/2016 is performed with 2014 emissions, as emission data for 2015 are not yet available.

User Guide to list-boxes

Please remember to give suitable filenames to the downloaded files. Please note that the ASCII files are compatible with Excel.

The list-boxes above allow for multiple selections of Countries/Areas, Year and Chemical Components. With [CTRL]-[Left Mouse-Button] several items can be selected or deselected. With [Shift]-[Left Mouse-Button] a continuous list can be selected or deselected. When all selections are done, please press the Show Data button. If you need to redo the selection, please press the Clear All button and make your new selections. At least one item from each of the following categories needs to be selected:

Emissions

The emissions used for the yearly model calculations have been derived from each years official data submissions to CEIP emission database/UNECE CLRTAP and are documented in the appendix of the EMEP Status Reports listed below.
