Atmospheric supply of nitrogen to the OSPAR Convention Waters

in the period 1990 - 2004

This report has been prepared for the OSPAR Commission (for the Protection of the Marine Environment of the North-East Atlantic). It is based on model estimates and monitoring results presented to the thirtieth session of the Steering Body of EMEP (Co-operative Programme for Monitoring and Evaluation of Long-Range Transmission of Air Pollutants in Europe). This is the third report of this kind for the OSPAR Commission. The first report was published in October 2003 and presented to OSPAR EUC meeting in December 2004 and to OSPAR-INPUT meeting in January 2003. The second report was published in July 2004. The present third report includes updated information for all years included in the first and second report as well as new information for the years, 2002, 2003 and 2004. The main points of this report were presented and discussed during the INPUT meeting in Oslo (23-25 January 2007). 1	Annual modelled nitrogen deposition: totals for individual nitrogen species (NO_x-N, NH₄-N, N_total) in t/a (from 1990 to 2004) to the 5 regions and 12 sub-regions of the OSPAR maritime area (tables). Grid resolution for the model computations should be the same as for HELCOM (50 km at 60 deg N). The latest and verified version of the model should be used.
